About me
I started as a Virtual Teacher at Lakeside Learning Center in 2005 and then in 2010 or there about became the Program Director. It has been an experience, for sure, as the virtual learning has grown and changed in our state! My favorite part is still the same as the brick and mortar teachers/staff though, watching the students grown, learn and graduate from the program! The graduation ceremonies are so rewarding and sometimes the first time I get to meet my students face to face, though be that time I feel like I have known them forever.
Recently, in the last 3 years, I have also taken on the hat of the Family and Consumer Science Teacher in one of the High Schools in our District. With the extra teaching duties and all the changes daily with COVID it has been an exciting time! As much as I love seeing my brick and mortar kids every day, I also love touching base with my virtual students daily as well. So many of our virtual kids are "outside the box" kids and having the virtual education option for them has been such a positive in their lives. They are thriving and growing in the virtual environment and becoming successful adults.
I love learning from other professionals as well so I look forward to this conference even if it has to be in the virtual format for this year.
