About me
Dr. Christopher Harrington currently serves as Senior Director of Innovative School Design at Michigan Virtual and Founder of EmpowerED Research Institute, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to providing research and educational programming aimed at accelerating innovation across schools and communities. Dr. Harrington formerly served as founder of the Institute for Teaching and Leading, LLC and as President of eLearn Institute, Inc. (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation). He has experience assisting dozens of school districts across the nation in the design and implementation of online, blended, and personalized learning programs. Dr. Harrington has also earned CETL certification from the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN). Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) certification is awarded to K-12 education technology leaders who demonstrate mastery in the knowledge and skills needed to define the vision for and successfully build 21st century learning environments in school districts. Dr. Harrington also served as a professor for Immaculata University teaching courses relating to teacher supervision, professional development, school law, school community relations, doctoral research, technology leadership, instructional technology integration, and network infrastructure. He has worked on local, regional, and national committees with iNACOL (now Aurora Institute) and various other education-based organizations aimed at transforming education through the use of technology. Dr. Harrington also serves as a reviewer of virtual school applications for the Colorado Department of Education. Dr. Harrington has served in the Pennsylvania public school system as a teacher, an administrator, consultant, and researcher for more than 30 years. He has earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University, and he currently holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology, a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, an Assistant Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility, a K12 Principal Certificate, and an Instructional Technology Specialist Certificate.
